Great advice! I personally do not use automated DMs, but I do receive them often unfortunately. I’ve not once clicked on a url sent via DM unless I’d had some form of communication with the contact prior to being DM’d. After awhile though, loads and loads of impersonal bot-messages in my inbox start to feel like spam. Besides, if I’m a follower I’m already interested… give me room to explore your brand and what you’re about is how I see it. Thanks again.

What a fantastic post! I love your rewrites of the Auto DMs. Simply marvy. I will use your idea of suggesting others to follow when I get followers – but not via Auto DM – via individual messages. I am not popular enough to use Auto DMs!

Sending personalized messages are always going to be more effective – you can use their name, look at their profile and find things to talk to them about. It’s much more effectively and more likely to get a response.
